Informel or informel art (shapeless art) is a style of abstract painting characterized by striving for free expression through the use of colorful areas, lines and other forms. In order not to limit the authenticity and drama of the works, the paintings do not yield to any compositional disciplines. They are focused on conveying emotions.
Vidal Toreyo – NEW MUTATIONS – visual expressionism
Toreyo’s works evolved in a continuous process from expressive representations heavily dependent on primitive art to a new aesthetics of creating images of Visual Expressionism. The effects of depth are achieved through a variety of textures that give an almost sculptural form. It focuses on transformation and combining traditional and modern techniques, combining action images with a bold calligraphy style. New mutations are highly physical, joyful, and abstract.
Vidal Toreyo paints in the style of Visual Expressionism. A characteristic feature is presenting the world only from a subjective perspective, radically distorting it. In this way, the artist achieves emotional effects to evoke moods or ideas.
Exhibition at IAXAI Gallery
The IAXAI Art Gallery once again organized a painting exhibition this year. Works by Vidal Toreyo from the NEW MUTATIONS series were presented in the gallery’s rooms. The IAXAI Art Gallery has allocated 4 large rooms for the latest works.
The curator of the exhibition invited renowned art critics, curators and collectors to the opening. Among the art professionals, a significant number were architects, interior designers seeking work for office interiors and public spaces.
Journalists also visited the opening.

The viewed images from the series NEW MUTATIONS change depending on the viewing angle. Metallic surfaces, structures on canvas – they mutate when viewed from different perspectives. This is the result of the materials used and the effects of light reflection on glossy and textured surfaces. Vidal Toreyo amuses us with mutations, showing that everything around us is constantly changing. In this way, the artist presents a unique approach to Visual Expressionism.
