Bio
Born in France near Versailles of a French father and an Italian mother, both cultures have always been present in my life. Since my childhood I have been passionate about drawing and painting. My artistic journey began in an illustration school in Paris where I acquired the classical techniques. After finishing my studies, I worked in creative branding and communication agencies for 20 years.
Steel focused on art, painting and creation, then I followed a ceramics course. Working with materials such as clay and glazes led my painting to the abstract side.
Art Statement
My painting is instinctive. Firstly I choose my colours, I put them directly on the canvas or my sheet of paper. Then my gestures come, I mix, I scratch, I rub and add a touch of red, black … and the painting forms itself.Often mysterious, sometimes epic, or still evoking an abstract landscape, they bring the observer to live a personal experience. Each will have his own interpretation and will see a different representation. Listening to stories, sensations or feelings is as moving as painting. Zao Wou-Ki, William Turner or Pierre Soulages are among my sources of inspiration.
