Lucy Ghelfi

Bio

Lucy Ghelfi lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her interest in art and the creative process has been in place since childhood. After a 30-year career in education, she decided to make a change and pursue a career as a full-time visual artist. Her formal art training came from course work at a two-year community college. The studio arts training and education included but was not limited to working in various mediums such as: acrylic, oil, pencil, pastel, charcoal, ink, mixed media, ceramics, and sculpture.

Her passion as a visual artist is painting on canvas using acrylic or oil, and powered pigments. Her current work highlights the highly textured surfaces. The bas relief effect on most of this collection begs to be studied and touched. She pushes the limits of the relief effect in more and more of her paintings.

Art Statement

I believe that every human being aspires to be unique and a one-of-a-kind individual. Yet, we have the same basic needs to thrive and live in joy. We are more alike than different in our needs including the emotional need to feel worthy of what we desire and be happy. My mission is to create works of art that reflects my belief and reawakens emotions, and therefore transmit positive feelings in others. I aspire to create works of art that are original and comes from my unique expression of self. Paintings which conveys a message of encouragement, inner reflection, are meditative, and brings joy to the viewer is what drives my art.
