Interview with Olivier Bourgin

O-A: What is art to you? Is creating an urge, necessity or maybe an incontournable, essential way of life?

Olivier Bourgin: Since my adolescence I express myself by painting. Very often the creation of a new collage is an adventure. I know what I start with, but I do not know what it will become……
.

O-A: What wouldn’t you do without art? What did you discover, achieve with it?

Olivier Bourgin: Creating is a necessity!!

O-A: If a person, artist or not, influenced you, what kind of question would you ask him/her?

Olivier Bourgin: For me, all painters are inspiring in their way of creating, especially I have been especially impressed by Max Ernst.
.

O-A: Who or what inspired you artistically; a person, artist, event, experience…

Olivier Bourgin: Inspiration, I am not looking for it, it is inside… In abstractness I am creating harmony and balance for my artwork and for me. Cutting bits out of an existing context, the haptic of the material and the possibility creating new aesthetics, is the basic element of the composition. The unpredictability of the interaction of material, colours and shapes makes creating collages so attractive to me…
