O-A: What is art to you?
Ilaria Lac: Art is a necessity and contemporary an expression of who I am.
There can be no difference between what I am and what I do.
LAC ( The Italian initials of Libertà – Amore – Carità. Freedom, Love and Charity ) is a name that I chose precisely because it contains the essence of my way of being and creating .
O-A: What wouldn’t you do without art? What did you discover, achieve with it?
Ilaria Lac: Art is like a piece of my body. It is the way I express my emotions and I communicate my vision of things. There, chaos finds its conceptual order and the action of doing paintings injects me with energy. Through art I climb a step, discover myself, investigate unknown things that come out.
.
O-A: If a person, artist or not, influenced you, what kind of question would you ask him/her?
Ilaria Lac: What a question ….ehm , I am italian, mostly Calabrian, I would ask him if he would like a nice plate of pasta with me ! It is not a banal answer… seeing a person act, someone understands many things about him. I would like to feel his soul, not to seek an answer.
O-A: Who or what inspired you artistically; a person, artist, event, experience…
Ilaria Lac: Nature and all its spectacular shapes . Its magical colors. Always different symphonies that capture every part of me.
On my instagram profile there is a video where I take a walk in a garden of my childhood and describe how single shape influenced me and the nit was transformed in an abstract way. The only person who influenced me culturally was my mother. My family has always breathed culture and art but the environment in which I have lived, (except the university bracket in Rome) and I still live is culturally arid. Now I am like one of those succulents plants that I love so much , I grow in arid territory and sometimes I sting this environment to try to make it progress.

O-A: What is a vivid memory of a remark concerning your art that got stuck with you?
Ilaria Lac: A person said me, looking at them surprised , that these paintings are monstrous live, It seems that they dance.
O-A: What was the most interesting statement you heard about your work?
Ilaria Lac: In the competition won they say that I center the theme with a very personal and innovative style, splitting and reconstructing the concept in my own way. Those who know me say usually that I have head, heart and likely shapes and the same goes for paintings. One soul.
O-A: How do you search for inspiration and themes for your work?
Ilaria Lac: I’m not searching. Are ideas that are like the waves of the sea, continuous and incessant. Unfortunatly I spend little time on them at the moment.
O-A: How has your art changed over time? Why?
Ilaria Lac: From the figurative I moved on to abstract synthesis. Already in the figurative I used abstract background patterns that captures the prevailing emotions. I instinctively have increasingly summarized the concept.
O-A: Are you a synesthet? Have synesthet ever commented on your paintings? How?
Ilaria Lac: I believe that when I paint I instintively synthesize a mixture of sensations. It is like a spiritual translation. If I think of a person while I paint and then I have him choose from ten squares that he will choose , the one I did when I thought of him.
.
O-A: What names do you give your artworks?
Ilaria Lac: The name of what comes out of the drawing which generally recalls some current sensations or metaphors . The connection between title and painting occurs later.
O-A: What do you usually talk about with your collectors?
Ilaria Lac: I never showed up to collector curators or competitions. I’ve been hungry for artistic cultures but I haven’t talked about art or culture for about 17 years.
I am 40 years old , I graduated in architecture in 2003 and after a short working period I put aside my passions to support others people different needs.
