Interview with Hector Lopez

O-A: What is art for you? Art for me is a way of life and a way of expressing yourself, art is everything that makes you feel.

Hector Lopez: Is it creating an urge, a need or perhaps an essential and uncontrollable way of life? For me it is an essential and uncontrollable way of living

O-A: What wouldn’t you do without art? What did you discover, did you achieve with it?

Hector Lopez: I have always lived and grown up surrounded by art, that is why I cannot imagine life without art, I have discovered that with effort and determination everything is achieved.

O-A: If a person, artist or not, influenced you, what kind of question would you ask?

Hector Lopez: Many artists have influenced my life and the only thing I would ask them would be about their work and their interest in their techniques.

O-A: Who or what inspired you artistically; a person, artist, event, experience …

Hector Lopez: Picasso, Mondrian, Kandinsky, Pollock …….

O-A: What is a vivid memory of a comment about your art that stuck with you?

Hector Lopez: Actually, the comments of the people who represent me in the world and the people who believe in my art are the ones that matter the most to me.

O-A: What was the most interesting statement you heard about your work?

Hector Lopez: The most important thing I have heard lately is from the English company that represents me and it was (LET’S MAKE YOU BE ONE OF THE GREATEST IN PAINTING)

O-A: How do you look for inspiration and themes for your work?

Hector Lopez: I am inspired by big cities, their lights and architecture and also by nature, although sometimes it is also difficult to make abstract portraits

O-A: How has your art changed over time? Why?

Hector Lopez: What I have changed the most is in the formats of my works, every time I feel more comfortable in large formats, although I also like to work in other formats
.
Hector Lopez

O-A: Are you a synesthet? Has Synesthet ever commented on your paintings? How?

Hector Lopez: I’m not, but some Synesthet person who went to see my paintings at a fair, if he spoke to me about my works in a way that I had never heard of

O-A: What names do you give your works of art?

Hector Lopez: I usually give them names that identify the work and the one that has inspired me when painting it.

O-A: What do you usually talk about with your collectors?

Hector Lopez: About my technique, the colors and my inspiration when doing the work especially
