Heikedine Günther’s Platonic Bodies series consists of ten works on the subject of the core, which create a corresponding total artwork in their joint presentation. Due to their uniqueness in form and similarities in substance, they create a total artwork, that does not exclude individuality. Each of the works examines the conditions for wholeness and fulfillment and is composed with five layers of paint on a golden base-layer.
With its vibrant properties the golden background becomes more of a cosmos of its own than a mere surface. Its glow continues to radiate through the individual layers of colour, just as the spark of love has an all-encompassing effect on its surroundings. The artist uses a special combination of different white tones, that range from flake white to titan white, and create an interplay between opaque and translucent properties. On each first layer of paint the artist applied with a steel pin a pentagon-shaped grid structure, that relates to proportion studies of the Cosmic Egg from natural philosopher Viktor Schauenberger, and remains gently visible until the surface layer.
