Abstraction is an artistic formula in which the work is devoid of illustrativeness, does not imitate nature, does not present anything specific. But are you sure? Regardless of how abstract and formless the image seems to us when we see it for the first time – after a closer look, after running the imagination, we can see amazing things in it. The artist, who lives in Spanish Andalusia, introduces us to the world in his individual way, does not tell directly, allows everyone to build their own interpretation.

The viewer’s brain demands that what comes to his consciousness have shape and its cause, but when something is abstract and illogical – the brain fictionalizes and as a result sometimes creates very surprising interpretations. In science, this mechanism is called the left hemisphere interpreter of the world. No interpretation of images, no evaluation, evaluation and analysis – no art.

Images will not have emotional load until they are interpreted. It is us viewers who give them meaning, then in Robert Lartdus’ paintings we will see animals, plants, creatures, objects, faces, parts of the human body, entire bodies.
