Bartos Saro at Gallery IAXAI – Artists are working the surface of the painting by applying thick spaces so the texture of the paint can be exposed and combined with unusual materials – marker, cement, objects. The artist’s’ intention is to emphasize the essence of painting and applied materials. The techniques used are to strengthen the message and emotional tensions of the work.
Bartos Saro is currently exhibiting his work at Gallery IAXAI, where his distinctive abstract landscapes are on display. Saro is known for his use of mixed media, particularly his innovative “matter painting” technique, which involves thick layers of impasto mixed with materials like sand or broken marble. This approach creates a textured, tactile surface that adds depth and emotion to his abstract composition.
.
His work is deeply rooted in minimalism and abstraction, often conveying complex emotions through seemingly simple forms. Saro’s paintings are characterized by their attention to the structure and weight of materials, creating a sense of tension and drama. His use of color is also noteworthy, with each piece featuring a unique palette that evokes different moods, from joy to nostalgia.
At Gallery IAXAI, Saro’s latest series, titled “Syncope in Abstract Landscape,” draws inspiration from musical concepts, particularly the rhythmic disruption known as syncope. This series explores the interplay between rhythm, texture, and color, further enhancing the synesthetic experience of his art.

The idea of the IAXAI Artistic Cooperative is based on artistic cooperation of international artists and cooperation with institutions interested in exhibiting art in their spaces. The idea of the project focuses on presenting art in open and accessible places for the general public. The presented works are changed every few weeks, which allows the recipients to have contact with a large amount of very diverse art. This philosophy is also very beneficial for the institutions that lend their spaces – they are perceived as creative, open and friendly. In addition, they obtain interesting and unconventional material for social media activities. Currently, IAXAI brings together artists from Poland, Spain, France and Italy.
