3D paintings – art that comes to life on the wall by Wiktor Godos

25 April 2025 Matter Painting / Haute Pate Minimalism Painting Post-painterly Abstraction

3D paintings are a unique and modern form of decorative art that is becoming increasingly popular among lovers of original interior designs. Their uniqueness lies in combining painting elements with sculptural ones, which creates depth, texture and spatiality unavailable to traditional painting. Unlike flat works, 3D paintings affect not only the sense of sight, but also touch and spatial perception, offering the viewer completely new aesthetic experiences.

The main distinguishing feature of 3D paintings is their three-dimensional structure, which allows for the creation of dynamic compositions that live depending on the angle of incidence of light. Thanks to the play of shadows and reflections, the image is constantly changing, offering the recipient new visual impressions from every perspective. This means that every look at the work can be different, and its reception becomes a process that lasts over time, not a one-time experience.

A wide range of materials and techniques are used to create such images. Artists use varnishes, structural paints, iridescent pigments, acrylic masses, sands, fabrics, wood, metals, as well as fluorescent elements that glow in the dark or under the influence of UV light. Each material brings a different texture and shade to the work, which allows for surprising visual effects. The multi-layered nature and variety of structures give the paintings depth and a unique character.

3D paintings in contemporary interiors

3D paintings perfectly fit into the aesthetics of modern and avant-garde interiors. They are a great choice for people who want to distinguish their spaces with originality and artistic flair. They work well in living rooms, offices, galleries, as well as in public spaces – wherever the first impression and the desire to attract attention count. Thanks to their uniqueness, they can serve as a central decorative point in the room, around which the entire arrangement is built.

Importantly, plastic 3D paintings not only decorate the space, but also affect its atmosphere. The play of light and shadow, visual variability and the possibility of communion with texture make the work a “living” element of the interior. For this reason, such paintings are often treated as a form of meditative or contemplative art, helping to calm down and focus.

To sum up, 3D paintings are a fascinating combination of painting and sculpture, which opens up new possibilities of expression for art. Their three-dimensional form, richness of materials and interaction with light make them an exceptional choice for anyone who wants to bring not only beauty to their surroundings, but also the depth of artistic experience.
